BBQ Smoker Questions, Answered

Yes. The Express is sold as a trailer on its own, ready for a front load Outlaw pit you already own, or as a package with a new pit installed. Current pricing for both is on The Express page.

Yes. Every HOSS and Hawg includes our annual whole hog class, so the rig and the know-how show up together.

Yes. The BFO is available with the side skin color of your choice, along with options like heavy rod grates, a stainless firebox cap, and your choice of wheels.

Everything is included. Fire basket, glow in the dark Tel-Tru thermometers, machined stainless handles, and a 1,200 degree finish are standard on every Outlaw made. We do not sell you a base pit and a parts list.

Yes. The BFR runs two spinning 26 inch grates with room between them, and one drum holds chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket with room to spare. Add the Revolver shelf for even more space.

Yes. One intake and a steady drum make the Ringo family the easiest Outlaws to run. Set the intake and the temperature holds while you cook, and the foot pedal lid keeps both hands free.

Front load puts the firebox door on the cooking side, so you throw sticks without walking around the pit. Side load puts the firebox on the end and keeps the long side clear, which matters on tight trailer decks.

Porches and carts offer both. Hybrids and The BFO are side load only, and the Patio models and the 2860 Special are front load only.

Every Outlaw is engineered, built, and welded in Mentone, Indiana. We do not grind our welds, and that is a tribute to the skill in every phase of the build.

Season it once before the first cook. Coat the grates and chamber interior with a high smoke point cooking oil, then run a fire at 250 to 300 degrees for a few hours with the chamber empty. That burns off residue from the build and lays down the first protective layer.

After that, normal cooking keeps the seasoning up. A light wipe of oil on the grates after cleaning never hurts.

No. Ringo family drums are precision formed aluminum, powder coated in our shop. Aluminum does not rust, holds heat steady, and cools fast.

Outlaw offsets are stick burners. Build a charcoal base in the elevated fire basket, then run wood splits for heat and smoke. The oversized intake damper keeps the burn steady in any weather.

Run charcoal with wood chunks for smoke flavor. One intake controls the burn, so set it and let the drum hold its temperature.

Keep it covered and dry. A cover and a dry pad extend any finish, and a light coat of oil on steel grates prevents surface rust between cooks.

Yes. The standard BFO build rides on dual torsion axles with a removable, theft resistant tongue, so it tows to the job and stores clean. Cart and permanent A-frame mounts are also available.

The HOSS weighs about 4,100 pounds ready to cook and rides on tandem axles. Most half ton pickups tow that comfortably, but check your vehicle’s tow rating and hitch setup before the first trip.

Yes. The Hawg is about 43 inches wide, so it rolls through a standard enclosed trailer door, and the quick detach exhaust twists off in seconds to clear the ceiling. The optional Warn winch makes loading a one man job.

About 350 pounds with a pit loaded, which is within the tongue ratings of most half ton trucks. As always, check your hitch and vehicle ratings.

Yes. Every rig is outfitted at the shop before delivery, with the pit set, the exhaust run, and your options installed, so you tow away a finished rig.

No. The Hotbox drops into your pit with no tools needed at the smoker, and all mounting hardware is included. Adapters are available for the 2440, 2660, and 2860.

Yes. We set and secure a new pit on your trailer at the shop at no charge, and we can run the exhaust through the trailer roof as an option. Both happen before delivery, so your rig leaves finished.

No. The chrome exhaust keeps the same quick detach design and fully machined damper as the standard stack. The difference is the finish, not the function.
